For some time I had been trying to find a Cracking tutorial called 'How to Crack' by the Vassal. I first learned of the file some years ago when I saw a Download described as 'How to Crack' by the Vassal that, in fact, ended up being The Sheperd's (Classic) file: 'Assembly for Cracking'. After reading The Sheperd's file the mold was pretty much broken for Cracking Tutorials, but I was still interested to read The Vassal's work. But, I began to wonder whether the Vassal's file even really existed because at least a dozen times, I would see a file descripted as being the Vassal's file and every time it would end up being The Sheperd's file. Then recently I just happened on a file called DCMG #2, #2 in the DirectConnect Macintosh Guild Newletter, a Macintosh Hack/Phreak E'Zine that ran in the early 90's and offered some pretty cutting edge underground Mac information...including:'How To Crack' by The Vassal ;> I finally found the The f----in' thing, and after reading it was enlightened to another file I had, but had no idea how worked called the 'EvE Init 1.4'. The 'EvE' INIT was supposed to aid in cracking 'EvE' or 'dongle' type copy protection. Unfortunatley the damn thing came with NO documentation. But it just so happened that The Vassal spent a WHOLE section in his Tutorial discussing the EvE INIT and 'dongle' protection. So, for your enjoyment....the elusive 'How to Crack' Tutorial by The Vassal...and, the undocumented: 'EvE Init 1.4' by..somebody..else. Enjoy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Vassal's tutorial was (forcefully) extracted from the Data Fork of the HyperCard Stack containing the fiell. This extraction unfortunatley caused all formatting in the file to be lost. To reclaim and retain this formatting The Vassal's tutorial has been saved as a Word 5.x file. For best results in reading and printing the file, use Word 5.x and a monospaced (Courier, Monaco, IBM, TTY) 9 point font when working with it.
